I can help you with . . .
Developmental Editing
Is your story not quite working, but you’re not sure why? I can help you pinpoint the problematic parts, find solutions, and implement them in an efficient, engaging way. I’ll look at things like plot, structure, and character development, and make sure every element is pulling its weight.
Line editing & copyediting
You’ve done the hard part and written the manuscript. Congrats! Now, it’s time to clean it up. I’ll look for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, in addition to ensuring coherence, consistency, and accuracy. This stage smooths out the language, tightens the flow, and brings clarity.
Proofreading
The manuscript is complete and you’ve corrected all big-picture and grammar issues. Before publication, your manuscript needs to undergo one final round of edits: proofreading. This pass will catch any remaining typos or errors, so they won’t draw attention from what really matters—your story!
Formatting
You’ve got the manuscript, you’ve done the edits, you’re ready to go! Not quite. We still need to make sure the story looks good. Whether it’s going to be published on paper or digitally, the manuscript needs to be formatted and prepped for publication to ensure a professional, reader-friendly layout.
Not sure what kind of editing you need?

Manuscript Evaluation
This is a high-level analysis of your manuscript similar in nature to developmental editing, but much less detailed (and less pricey!). I’ll look at big-picture things like structure, plot, and character development, but I’ll also look at your writing style, how effective it is, and whether or not the manuscript would benefit from a developmental, copyediting, or proofreading pass to make it ready for publication. You can expect to receive an editorial letter that will highlight your strengths and point out things that require some more attention, as well as provide guidance and resources for how to address these issues.
Approach
How it works
If you’re interested in working with me, but aren’t sure I would be a good fit for your story, please get in touch anyway. Here’s what you can expect to happen:
1
Reach out
Use the contact form to get in touch and tell me about your project and what kind of edits you think you need. Don’t forget to include other relevant details, such as any deadlines or specific preferences.
2
Sample edit
Once I receive your manuscript, I’ll provide a sample edit of 1,500 words free of charge. I will confirm the delivery date with you upon receipt of the manuscript, but generally you can expect this stage to take no longer than a week.
3
quote
Once I’m done with the sample edit, I will provide an estimate quote and a delivery date. Whenever possible, I will do my best to accommodate any special deadlines. If, after completing the sample edit, I believe your manuscript would benefit from a different type of edit than you requested, I will let you know and explain why I think so.
4
Editing
After we agree on the scope of work and other relevant details, I’ll start working on your manuscript. Once the edits are complete, you’ll receive the edited manuscript and any supporting documents. Voilà!
